JOB DESCRIPTION
Description
As a Database Architect in the Operational Excellence Business Intelligence group, you will play a key role as a member of a team that develops and supports various internal systems and tools that are used by leaders and colleagues. This includes an online dashboard that is used to report key business and financial metrics, a web-based system that is used to track and report client projects, and several custom reports used by stakeholders to support their business needs.
The Database Architect will evaluate and improve existing database structures and play a crucial role in creating evolutionary database models. You will be required to analyze business requirements, work with the development team (e.g., product leader, analysts) to evaluate and identify solutions that meet the needs of the business, utilizing industry standard best practices and creative design techniques to overcome complex business and technical challenges (e.g., maximum performance with complex data sets).
The Role
Work with the Senior Database Architect to define database architectures and communicate those designs to business and engineering partners
Analyze existing data design and suggest improvements that promote performance, stability, and interoperability
Work with product management and business subject matter experts to translate business requirements into good database design
Interface with the owners of a variety of data sources around the company to create and maintain ongoing database connections and uploads between internal systems
Develop and run various batch processes/stored procedures
Troubleshoot and remediate bugs/defects
Maintain the governance model on the database architecture through training, design reviews, code reviews, and progress reviews.
Participate in the development of Database Architecture and Roadmaps in support of business strategies
Establish and maintain database architecture standards and best practices
Participate in the evaluation of emerging technology and tools
Create technical documentation and ensure that it is clear, concise, and accurate
JOB QUALIFICATION
Qualifications
The Requirements
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience
Strong experience in databases, tools, and methodologies
Strong experience in Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS and SSAS) and Visual Studio
Demonstrated proficiency in Data Analysis, Data Modeling, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Database Design
Experience with database performance evaluation and remediation
Develops strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery and implementation
Be able to design and develop Databases, Data Warehouses and Relational Databases
SQL development experience (TSQL, Views, Stored Procedures, Indexes)
Experience working with Microsoft Power BI would be beneficial
Experience in Microsoft Azure SQL Database is a plus
Experience with browser-based web applications delivered over the Internet that support high user concurrency
Ability to develop database strategies for flexible high-performance reporting and business intelligence
Excellent verbal and writing skills, including the ability to research, design and write new documentation, as well as to maintain and improve existing material
