Job Description
Database Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic plan for the organization's database systems. This includes defining the overall database architecture, technology stack, and data management policies to align with business objectives.
Database Performance Optimization: Optimize the performance of critical databases by analyzing query execution plans, monitoring database performance metrics, and implementing performance tuning techniques. Deliver recommendations and solutions to improve database performance and ensure optimal resource utilization.
Database Security and Compliance: Ensure the implementation of robust database security measures and compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. This includes defining and enforcing access controls, encryption
Database Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Define and implement robust backup and recovery strategies for critical databases to ensure data availability and minimize downtime in the event of disasters or system failures. Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and conduct regular testing to validate their effectiveness.
Database Technology Evaluation: Stay informed about emerging database technologies, tools, and trends. Evaluate their potential benefits and applicability to the organization's database systems, and provide recommendations on adopting new technologies or migrating to more efficient platforms.
RESPONSIBILIITIES
Database Availability: Monitor the availability of databases and track downtime incidents. This KPI assesses the Principal's efforts in implementing robust backup and recovery strategies, as well as their ability to minimize downtime and ensure high availability of database systems.
Stakeholder Satisfaction: Measure the satisfaction levels of key stakeholders, such as business users, IT teams, and executive management, with the performance and reliability of database systems. This KPI reflects the Principal's ability to understand and meet the needs of stakeholders, communicate effectively, and build strong relationships.
Team Development and Collaboration: Assess the development and growth of the database operations team under the Principal's guidance. This KPI measures the Principal's ability to mentor and develop team members, foster a collaborative work environment, and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
HIRING REQUIREMENTS
4-6 years experience of work as Senior Database Administrator
Experience in High availability and disaster recovery.
Experience Backup and recovery strategies.
Relational Databases: Understanding relational database concepts, including tables, fields, relationships, and normalization. Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) for querying and manipulating data in relational databases
Database Management Systems (DBMS): Familiarity with popular DBMS platforms like MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and their respective features and functionalities.
Database Administration: Understanding database administration tasks such as installation, configuration, backup and recovery, security management, and performance tuning.
Query Optimization: Proficiency in optimizing SQL queries, indexing strategies, and understanding execution plans to improve database performance.
Data Security and Compliance: Knowledge of database security measures, access controls, encryption techniques, and compliance regulations such as GDPR or HIPAA.
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
