Job Responsibilities:
Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on application design
Design and implement database in accordance with end users information
Define, manage, and optimize database access (user/security maintenance)
Implement backup configuration standards
Establish a disaster recovery protocol
Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards
Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution
Database Administrator Qualifications/Skills:
Strong command of administration and support of Oracle,MSSQL, and any of open-source databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) are an added advantage
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills is an advantage
Having experience with service management tools (Cherwell or Remedy etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Impeccable attention to detail
Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
Highly organized and responsible
Capable of working under pressure
Up to date with trends and developments in database administration
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
3+ years of experience in database administration and IT Support
Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments
Extensive experience with database technologies Oracle, MS SQL,and open-source databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) along with certification is a plus
Experience with cloud services and DevOps tools is a plus
