WHAT IS A DATA SCIENTIST Our awesome client, a leading IT company based in Australia is looking for a Data Scientist to be part of their IT team. The Data Scientist - Quantjoins our quant data scientist team and applies machine learning and statistical modellings to financial and risk management problems. These models include but are notlimited to pricing, risk segmentation and risk alerts. WHAT WILL BE YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Working as part of an Agile team to investigate high volume transactional trading data & customer dimension data. Collaborate closely with fellow engineers and analysts to find innovative solutions to traditionaltechnical challenges Pepperstonecareers.com. Actively contribute to discussions about data flow design, model design and standard methodology Being hands-on in raw trading data and investigating unusual and interesting trends Engaging closely with the Data Engineering team to develop & deploy models in production. Working effectively with stakeholders to develop and release solutions with a focus on clear interpretation and easy actioning Providing statistical evidence to communicate hypotheses and model projections Assistin championing initiatives to improve the scalability and robustness of our models WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR Qualifications in Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics and/or Applied Finance Sound knowledge of financial and trading markets Proficiency in Jupyter Notebooks, SQL, Python, PySpark, SageMaker or DataBricks/Snowflake/H20 A discernible passion for quantitative modeling: especially around large-scale data processing Knowledge ofthe AWS technology stack Experience in analyzing large, complex multi-dimensional datasets and coming up with key actionable insights Experience in driving projects end to end from analysis, experimentation,testing to production Proven financial modeling and risk management skills A demonstrated ability to meet multiple competing deadlines Strong problem-solving capabilities as well as the ability to adapt to changing and conflicting priorities An understanding ofthe technology, use cases, and choices available across Data Processing (e.g. Spark, Flink), Data Workflows (e.g. Airflow, Luigi), Data Formats (e.g. Avro, Parquet, Arrow, protobuf) - Desirable Experience with MetaQuotes platform (desirable) Experience with backtesting framework (desirable) Ability to effectively collaborate with others Sound communication skills both verbal and written Ability to thrive in a nimble,fast paced environment
