Job Description Purpose At Manulife, data is becoming a critical strategic focus. Delivering the right solutions to ensure all levels of management are making data-driven decisions is critical to Manulife's success. Sound data governance sets the foundation to ensure these solutions meet the business and analytical needs. These foundational frameworks are designed and supported by the Asia Data Office (ADO). Data Enablement is charged with: - Data governance framework within Asia - Data quality and access oversight - Governance reporting and transparency - Communication and collaboration The Data Enablement Analyst team member will deliver outcomes based on tactical and strategic priorities set by the Head of Data Enablement. Responsibilities Data Governance framework - Support Head of Data Enablement in developing frameworks - Deliver frameworks, standards, processes and procedures - Partner with different markets in Asia to implement Data Quality (DQ) Program and Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) - Support DQ and EDC implementation - Support rollout of DQ and EDC related tools and automation Strategy - Assist in development and implementation of Data Enablement framework and processes - Contribute to the development and implementation of the Asia Data strategy - Support other team leads Leadership - Lead by example and develop team culture which is: - Accountable - Innovative - Service-minded - Mentor peers and indirect reports Qualifications Education & experience Degree or equivalent experience in: Business, Economics, Finance or Actuarial, Computer sciences LOMA is desired but not required 5+ years of progressive responsibility and accountability in one or more of: Data quality / governance, Data Lake (or data warehouse) development, Data analytics / business intelligence, Development of organization-wide data policies and processes Experience as a Project Manager or people manager is an asset Technical proficiency Understanding of following tools helpful: Hadoop / Apache software, including Ranger & Atlas, Informatica tools, including BDQ, Data visualization, such as PowerBI, Qlikview, Tableau, Data management tools, Basic understanding of databases such as SQL, Oracle, NoSQL Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, MS Project and SharePoint Competencies Demonstrated understanding of data management Ability to interpret and translate terminology between technical and business users Change champion - actively identify opportunities for improvement and ability to implement changes successfully Collaborate with geographically and culturally diverse teams across various geographies Self-sufficient Effective presentation skills Lead through coaching and mentorship Above average written and oral communication skills in the English language If you are ready to unleash your potential, it's time to start your career with Manulife/John Hancock.
