DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cost Accounting
1. Identify and research manufacturing cost variances. Isolate operational and procedural causes. Communicate results to Operation/Manufacturing Department.
2. Monitor Cycle Count Program and Inventory observations audit and testing. Participating in ongoing process improvement and automation efforts. Assist in establishing inventory verification processes and help with counts as needed. Monitors and reconciles inventory reserves and obsolescence. Assists Operations to minimize inventory risk and reserve requirements.
3. Review work order closures. Hold a weekly work order review meeting with Supply Chain Planners to discuss any problematic closures. Verify product BOM's and work orders and correct as needed.
4. Reviewing creation and impact of updating Standard Costs in ERP System. Establish standard costs for new products and update standard costs for existing products to incorporate latest material and labor standards. Play a key role in updating and maintaining material standard costs, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure their accuracy and efficient processing
5. Participate in annual cost roll process, to include working with Supply Chain team on material costs as well as working within ERP system to run several cost simulations prior to annual roll
ME/FP&A
1. Analyze gross margin GL accounts and prepare weekly activity reports, e.g., work order variance report, PPV report, scrap tracking report, etc. Month-end closing, account reconciliations and financial analysis. Validate cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
2. Assists Financial Planning and Analysis team with variance analysis and the annual budget and forecasting processes through established models incorporating standard/non-standard future costs. Reconcile purchase variances to standards, looking for cost changes and other problems such as unit-of-measurement issues.
3. Assist in the assembly/development of monthly packages to be utilized for financial management reporting, including variance explanations, forecast updates, scenario building and other analyses
4. Run ERP excess & obsolete inventory reports monthly, ensuring ERP algorithm is functioning as expected and investigating any unusual activity
5. Assist in creation of weekly high-level Manufacturing P&L "flash reports" for Operations Senior Staff
6. Analyze cost center expenses compared to budget throughout each month, and record correcting journal entries when necessary
7. Other accounting department duties including ad-hoc reporting and special projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· Minimum five (5) years of experience in cost accounting
· Experience with product cost/cost accounting, general accounting, and budgeting activities
· Strong working knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of accounting and financial reporting
· NetSuite or similar ERP system (Oracle) experience preferred
· Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, XLOOKUPS, etc.
· Language: Proficiency in English Language required
· Demonstrated attention to detail
· Ability to provide accurate and meaningful data
· Ability to research GL account activity and recommend accounting treatment
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to report and present to Finance and Operations Senior Staff
