Job Description
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing our cost accounting activities, financial analysis, and inventory valuation processes. As a Cost Accountant, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate costing, provide insightful financial reporting, and contribute to strategic decision-making that drives our company's growth and profitability.
Responsibilities
Perform cost analysis and evaluation for all manufacturing processes, including raw materials, labor, and overhead costs
Monitor and analyze inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting - Collaborate with operations and sourcing teams to optimize procurement costs and evaluate supplier performance
Prepare and present financial reports, providing insightful analysis on cost variances, trends, and opportunities for improvement - Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, offering valuable input for financial planning and pricing strategies
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, established policies, and regulatory requirements
Continuously assess and improve existing cost accounting systems and procedures to drive efficiency and accuracy
Support month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and propose effective solutions
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to enhance the cost accounting function's efficiency
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or BS Math
Previous experience in cost accounting within the food manufacturing industry is highly desirable
Proficient knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting methodologies
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights
Excellent attention to detail and aptitude for accuracy
Advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant accounting software
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Proactive problem-solving abilities and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
