COST ACCOUNTANT 
 
Job Description 
 
A Cost Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and analysing cost expenditures and purchases  within the production. They aim to increase profits and reduce the company’s financial waste by  reviewing goods, recording data and making recommendations about cost-efficient and financially  feasible cost options. They will work closely with the management to determine actual costs of  manufacturing, or providing a service, scrutinizing associated company expenses, analysing profitability  and preparing the company budget.  
 
Essential Functions 
 Analyze any changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on  costs; 
Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting reports for submission to management;
Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and  profitability of products or services; 
Assist superiors with suggesting changes to policies or procedures to increase cash flow;
Review rates of depreciation, labor and overhead and suggest policy changes to improve  numbers; 
Establish standard costs and update them as appropriate; 
Maintain and review the general ledger and reconcile balance sheets; 
Assist in audits and general ledger preparation 
Qualifications 
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or any related field 
Preferably a Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) 
Must have at least 2 years experience as a Cost Accountant in a Food Manufacturing Company
Sound understanding of Accounting principles 
Solid cost systems background 
Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills 
Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines 
Excellent report-writing, communication and IT skills
