Job Description A Core Network and Facilities Engineer maintains the network elements for Core sites, with tasks that include but not limited to:
- On-site Support (Troubleshooting and corrective maintenance)
- Routines and Healthchecks
- Backup Management
- Preventive Maintenance (Telecom equipment)
- Internal Project Support
- External Project Support
- Spares Management
DUTIES & AND RESPONSIBILITIES
List of duties and responsibilities according to the current mandate of the organization
Generally listed according to key result area or the broad process being employed
Statements ideally should also indicate the expected outcome of each stage of the process being described
Network Operations and Maintenance
Monitor performance of network elements within the site
Perform network health check and system and CDR backup.
Perform preventive maintenance of network elements and its support facilities as schedule.
Perform corrective maintenance within the agreed SLA
Perform restoration of network/system faults within agreed SLA.
Building/Infrastructure/Facilities Management Monitors and collaborates with support units (Contractor Management and Technical Support) concerning the following:
Building structure (e.g., load-bearing capacity, defects, restoration, etc.)
Equipment/room layout (e.g., space requirement and limitation, etc.)
Electrical power capacity/requirement (e.g., AC/DC power system, grounding, etc.)
Air conditioning/ventilation (e.g., requirement, limitation, etc.)
Ensures 99.9999% site availability covering the aforementioned systems/facilities
Site Classification and Document/Information Management
Monitor network criticality in his site are within NTG network engineering parameters (limits) and escalates to promptly when the parameters have been breached.
Ensure availability/accessibility and safekeeping of copies of pertinent documents such as business permits/certificates, as-built, policies & procedures manual (PPM) and system/operations manuals among others (e.g., RSL)
Asset/Inventory Management
Assist in monitoring assets (additional/upgrading, movement & disposal) and adequately protected according to NTG Engineering & Property Loss Control standards
Perform inventory of equipment/spare parts
Monitors database for support equipment on site, periodically.
Site Audit/Inspection
Assist in site audit/inspection to ensure compliance to Enterprise Risk Management, Safety Health and Environment and Third Party/Insurer and City Engineering's standards.
Assist in tracking and follow through of corrective actions for identified findings or deficiencies.
Policies and Procedures Updating and EnforcementMonitor that policies and procedures are complied with specifically those covering the following and non-compliance are documented, reported and penalized.
Building/Infrastructure/Facilities Management/House Rules
Site Classification and Document/Information Management
Asset/Inventory Management
Physical/Access Security
Safety and Environment Management
Business Continuity Management
Other specific/established site guidelines/procedures and/or house rules
Operations/In-house Project Management
Identify and escalate the site's operational concerns and improvement needs
Implement projects for the site improvement or restoration.
Review and approve co-location plan.
Site Access approval following the CNFM gating process.
Project Support
Review of TSSR and MOP.
Attend to pre-survey and surveys provide inputs and recommendations. Review and approve location plan.
Check and monitor project progress and ensure compliance to approved plans and agreed process.
Attend to scheduled HAT, SAT, PAT.
Site Access approval following the CNFM gating process.
People Management
Participate in assigned and scheduled trainings, meetings, cascades, and coaching sessions.
Participate in supplementary activities (e.g. audits, orientations, mentoring, other learning activities, CSR activities, surveys).
