Fluor is seeking candidates for the I-35 Northeast Expansion (NEX) South project in San Antonio, TX.
Fluor's scope includes the design and construction of approximately four miles of elevated lanes, three in each direction, and associated interchanges at either end of the project.
The I-35 NEX South Project will add additional capacity to one of the most congested corridors in the state, which handles more than 140,000 vehicles per day.
Technical and operational support for the construction of heavy highway construction including: cast-in-place and precast structures, mechanically stabilized earth wall systems, underground pipe, concrete and asphalt roadways, and earthwork. Position includes both field and office environments. Works closely with subordinate Engineering leads and functional departments to ensure polices, procedures, and standards are adhered to. Reports the construction engineer manager, manages up to 5 lead engineers.
. Works with Structures and Civil Superintendents to direct and coordinate personnel to ensure project progresses safely, on schedule, within all quality standards, and within prescribed budget
. Interface with team members to provide input as necessary to ensure that Project Controls reporting is accurate and timely
. Manages construction work plan process, and means and method planning
. Participates in Design-Build process and provides comment review to maximize constructability and minimize quantity growth.
. Experienced with cranes, lift plans, precast concrete erection, rigging, mass concrete, and detailed construction work plans.
. Able to use drafting software to support means and methods development
. Works with Superintendent and Lead Engineers to identify and resolve design issues with Engineer of Record
. Incorporates projects Quality Management System requirements into assigned scopes of work.
. Point of contact with Engineer of Record during construction, and interfaces with design team during the design process.
. Manages the construction RFI process.
. Manages subcontractors and suppliers.
. Manages quantity tracking procedures and permanent material usage.
. Works with functional groups (Quality, Safety, Traffic, Survey, Design Management in support of construction work
. Works with Superintendents to prepare construction planning schedules and review unit cost reports.

Basic Job Requirements
. Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and fourteen (14) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eighteen (18) years if non-degreed some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
. Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
. Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
. Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
. Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
. Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines.
. Commitment to working in a team environment.
. Strong oral and written communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications
. A degree in Engineering from a recognized institution
. Ability to speak/read multiple languages
. Excellent oral and written communication skills
. Advanced computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the advanced use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
