Job Summary
The Commodity Buyer is responsible for executing and managing trades under the category assigned to support the overall company objectives in terms of growth and profitability. You will oversee and perform the negotiation, procurement, research, analysis on current supply and demand, exploration of market options, and trading activities of the company and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Trading Activities
1.1 Oversees, manages, and executes the identification, negotiation, purchasing, importation, and documentation of products according to approved pricing strategy
1.2 Identifies and develops new trading opportunities
1.3 Performs demand forecasts and procurement scheduling to meet demand and ensure availability
1.4 Oversees studies related to competitors' purchasing activities and practices
1.5 Collaborates with sales, buyers, supply chain, and marketing to identify customer needs
1.6 Ensures trading orders and procedures are executed in a timely manner
1.7 Coordinates with finance team for budget requirements
1.8 Handles and resolves order or quality issues by coordinating with concerned stakeholders
1.9 Provides timely information on inventory levels and goods in transit
2. Customer and Supplier Management
2.1 Establishes, develops, and manages supplier relationships to increase trade activity and quality of trading activities
2.2 Attends trade shows, food expos, and plant tours
3. Market Research and Strategy
3.1 Performs research and gathers information from suppliers, customers, and other industry players
3.2 Develops and implements short and long term trading strategies
3.3 Shares ideas with other traders and sales team to maximize exposure and gain new clients.
3.4 Performs and creates models for quantitative analysis of financial data, extracting price movement forecasts.
3.4 Develop trading strategies to ensure there are enough stocks to sell and analyze which position to maintain.
4. Administration
4.1 Monitors and conveys orders, trading ideas, trades, news, and data regularly
4.2 Communicates all relevant and critical information to management in a timely manner
4.3 Creates reports and presents team updates and research
4.4 Leads in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
5. People Management
5.1 Oversees performance and transactions of staff
5.2 Conducts regular performance evaluations and reviews based on KPIs
5.4 Performs other related tasks that maybe assigned from time to time.
Job Specifications: * Graduate of Management, Economics, or equivalent
At least 5 years of relevant work experience
Preferably with experience in Commodities/Stocks Trading, purchasing, or equivalent
Preferably with background in food commodities or agri-business
High level of critical thinking
Great interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex situations
Willing to visit distribution centers frequently and travel outside the country
