The Company Perseus Mining Limited is a West African gold explorer, developer and gold producer. The Company is listed on both the ASX and TSX. The Perseus Group operates the Edikan Gold Mine in Ghana, the Sissingué Gold Mine and Yaouré development in Côte d'Ivoire. As a result, we are seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced professionals.
The Commercial Manager will report to the General Manager Operations and functionally to the Perth based Group Financial Controller, working on a 6 weeks on 3 weeks off FIFO roster. The Commercial Manager will have the opportunity to materially contribute to the development of Perseus in Cote d'Ivoire and ensure all commercial and financial responsibilities are met whilst identifying and implementing a culture of continuous improvements. The role will also have a focus on the development of the site-based finance and commercial teams.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Management of all financial and commercial staff on site and development of training and development matrixes with plans for all Commercial personnel;
Management of the preparation of monthly management accounts;
Formulation of Commercial Department budgets and control of expenditure in line with approved budgets;
Timely development of budgets and forecasts, covering all aspects of the site operation;
Identification and management of material commercial and financial risks;
Achievement of site and personnel specific Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) that have been agreed prior to the commencement of each financial year;
Implementation and monitoring of financial controls and costing/reporting processes on site, in accordance with Group requirements and policies;
Provision of accurate and timely financial information to Heads of Departments at site and to Perseus Corporate Office to enable them to assess costs incurred and take informed decisions in relation to cost control and capital management within their respective departments;
Contribution towards Continuous Improvement Initiatives ("CI") aimed at improving operational efficiency in all aspects of the operation to focused on reducing overall costs;
Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations that are applicable to Perseus' business in Cote d'Ivoire;
Management of the site warehouse and associated inventory in line with Perseus Supply Management Policies;
Management of the Camp and site based associated support services;
Management of relevant contracts as designated by the General Manager Operations namely:
Fuel Supply
Commercial Contracts
Catering & Transport Contracts;
Management of the Information Technologies (IT) and Supply and Logistics departments on site in line with the Perseus IT Policies and Supply Management Policies;
Working closely with the Abidjan Office to meet all Cote d'Ivoire statutory obligations.
The following qualifications and experience are essential requirements of this role:
Minimum of 8 years' experience on operational mine sites with demonstrated extensive involvement in site based financial management including implementing process and systems improvement;
Previous experience working in emerging economies, preferably West Africa;
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or equivalent;
Accreditation by a professional accounting body (CA or CPA);
Exposure to finance management systems and protocols;
Sound working knowledge of the Pronto ERP system or similar ERP;
Demonstrated understanding of occupational health and safety requirements in an operational environment;
High standard of personal integrity, professionalism and attention to detail;
Motivated team player with a positive attitude and an effective communication style.
