Job Description
Top Deliverables:
Develop and implement a cloud governance framework that outlines the policies, procedures, and guidelines for managing cloud resources, ensuring compliance, and optimizing costs. Defines the governance structure, establish roles and responsibilities, and create processes for monitoring and enforcing cloud governance within the organization.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and security best practices. They assess the organization's cloud infrastructure and services, identify potential vulnerabilities or risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them. This includes implementing security controls, monitoring access and permissions, and conducting regular audits to maintain a secure and compliant cloud environment.
Regularly assess the effectiveness of the governance framework and identify areas for improvement. Establish mechanisms for ongoing monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of cloud governance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for optimizing cloud costs, enhancing security measures, and addressing emerging risks.
Providing regular updates and reports on cloud governance initiatives to key stakeholders, such as executive management, audit committees, or regulatory bodies. Communicates progress, challenges, and key outcomes achieved in implementing the governance framework.
Oversee the evaluation, selection, and management of cloud service providers. Establish processes for assessing vendor compliance with governance requirements, monitoring performance, and addressing any vendor-related risks.
SOFT SKILLS
Leadership skills, including influencing others, facilitating change, and guiding teams, are valuable in gaining buy-in, motivating others, and championing cloud governance practices within the organization.
Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate the goals, strategies, and requirements of cloud governance to various stakeholders.
Effective stakeholder management to building and maintain relationships, understanding their perspectives and requirements, and aligning cloud governance initiatives with organizational goals. Skilled at negotiating, influencing, and resolving conflicts to achieve consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Adaptable and flexible, capable of embracing change and adjusting strategies and processes accordingly. Open to learning new concepts and staying updated with the latest trends in cloud governance to drive continuous improvement.
Ability to analyze complex information, identify patterns and trends, and make informed decisions related to cloud governance. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary to assess risks, evaluate compliance requirements, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills to work effectively with IT teams, security teams, compliance officers, and business units. Should be able to foster a culture of collaboration, facilitate cross-functional meetings, and encourage knowledge sharing and cooperation.
HARD SKILLS
Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and services. Knowledge of various cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or others. This includes understanding different cloud deployment models (public, private, hybrid), cloud infrastructure components, and cloud service offerings.
Familiar with industry-recognized governance frameworks and standards such as COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), ISO/IEC 27001, NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), CCM (CSA Cloud Controls Matrix), and CIS (Center for Internet Security) controls. Should have an understanding of how to apply these frameworks to cloud environments and align governance practices with compliance requirements.
Strong understanding of cloud security principles, best practices, and technologies. Familiar with identity and access management (IAM), encryption methods, network security, vulnerability management, and incident response in cloud environments.
Understanding the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders, defining policies and procedures, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. They should have experience in risk assessment and management, business continuity planning, and IT service management (ITSM) practices.
Knowledge of data governance principles, data classification, data privacy regulations, data lifecycle management, and data access controls. Should have an understanding of how to implement data governance practices in the context of cloud environments, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.
Should possess financial management skills to effectively manage cloud costs and optimize spending. Should understand cloud pricing models, budgeting, cost allocation, and cost optimization techniques. This includes monitoring and analyzing cloud usage, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing strategies to optimize cloud spending.
CERTIFICATION / LICENSE
Any of the following: (REQUIRED)
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
Google Cloud Certified - Associate Cloud Engineer
Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or Azure Administrator
WORK EXPERIENCE
Candidates should have 1-2 years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing cloud governance frameworks in a large-scale environment. This includes developing governance policies and procedures, defining cloud service management processes, establishing security controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Experience in assessing cloud risks, identifying gaps, and implementing remediation measures is valuable.
Work experience with various cloud platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or others. Candidates should have practical experience in managing cloud services, resources, and configurations within these platforms. Familiarity with the specific tools and services offered by these cloud platforms.
Candidates should possess a strong understanding of IT governance principles, frameworks, and best practices. This includes experience in defining IT governance strategies, establishing governance committees, and implementing controls to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Candidates should have experience in engaging with and managing relationships with stakeholders across the organization. This includes executives, IT teams, security teams, compliance officers, and business units. Experience in understanding stakeholder requirements, communicating effectively, and driving consensus among diverse stakeholders is important.
LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE and EDUCATION
A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or a related field with relevant work experience and certifications.
Comprehensive understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and services.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of IT governance principles, frameworks, and best practices which includes understanding industry standards such as COBIT, ITIL, and ISO/IEC 38500, as well as regulatory compliance requirements.
Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Stays up-to-date with the latest advancements in cloud computing, IT governance, security, and compliance through attending conferences, webinars, workshops, and participating in relevant industry forums can enhance knowledge and keep skills current.
