Job Description:
Title: Cloud Database Administrator
Location: BGC, Taguig
The Cloud Operations PostgreSQL Database Administration Team is looking for an experienced PostgreSQL (PGSQL) database administrator (DBA) to assist the Multi-Tenant (MT) PGSQL DBA Team in management, administration, and automation of Cloud MT PGSQL DBA processes, automations, procedures, and development. The candidate will be tasked with management of MT PGSQL database instances, ensuring their availability, performance, and functionality, as well as development of processes and automations to assist in the management and administration for the entire MT PGSQL fleet. The candidate will have an analytical degree, excellent problem solving skills, and strong development experience. Experience with AWS PostgreSQL RDS and Aurora and Linux administration and development is strongly desired. A background in project management is a plus. Any candidate with practical experience in machine learning and self-healing technologies is a huge bonus.
Essential Duties:
- Monitoring, administration, and availability of MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora databases and database instances.
- Monitoring, administration, and availability of MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora database instance resources, security groups, and related objects.
- Monitoring of MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora related metrics, alerts, and pages to ensure proper functionality and availability.
- Development of SQL, PowerShell, BASH, and/or Python scripting and functions to promote/enhance automation of entire MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora fleet.
- Management of AWS/Azure cloud objects, functions, and processes in the effort of managing the MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora fleet.
- Development of stored procedures, functions, extensions, and scripts to enhance MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora functionality.
- Ensuring high availability of all MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora database instances to meet SLAs.
- Ensuring MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora database security is in alignment with corporate policies.
- Build and deployment of MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora database instances across all environments, both production and non-production.
- Performance tuning of all MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora database instances and databases to ensure optimal performance.
- Management, administration, and confirmation of regular backups and recovery of databases to confirm functionality.
- Management, administration, and development of standard MT PGSQL RDS and Aurora database maintenance
Qualification:
- 5-7 years of PostgreSQL database support, administration, and development.
- AWS/Azure exposure, particularly related to AWS PGSQL RDS and Aurora.
- Linux exposure (nice to have)
- Development skills such as source code control, debugging, code base management, encapsulation, and software development methodologies.
- Ability to develop SQL, PowerShell, BASH, and/or Python scripting languages. (Nice to have)
- Ability to work both in team based settings, as well as individually, to create solutions that address both small and large scale problems.
- Functional communication with fellow team members and the company as a whole to individuals who may have skills in areas other than analytical practices.
