Job Description
Lead production team in an effective and efficient manor, implementing all production and quality control systems, planning and scheduling production, tracking and measuring production performance, staffing, and production goal making.
Monitor and ensure implementation of recommended changes in work methods and/or equipment usage to improve labor utilization, production efficiency & department expenses and leads, trains, & supervises the Chocolate Production staff and department
Responsible for ensuring that the strategic direction and company policies determined by executive management are successfully implemented, and that the factory objectives are achieved.
Recruit, manage and mentor production staff. Effectively manage the change processes needed for improvements.
Establish and develop cooperative and productive workgroups as part of the site change program.
Develop the plans needed to achieve chocolate plant objectives. Fulfilment of the Chocolate production plan. Production reporting and development of weekly KPI's
Manage safety as a priority within the factory. Ensure Quality control of all chocolate products. Allocation of factory labour in line with planned work and process schedules
Ensuring Shift Supervisors lead their respective shifts appropriately and meet set KPI's. Effective cross functional communications between Production, Technical and Engineering teams
Co-operate with Sales, Quality Control and Maintenance staff to ensure optimum production performance in accordance with sales forecasts.
Monitor variables affecting production yields and initiate corrective action. Ensure product quality is acceptable and in accord with specifications.
Confer with superior in the establishment of shift standards and working schedules; maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
Observe approved labour schedules and ensure efficient performance. Authorise overtime in accordance with production needs.
Liaise with maintenance staff to co-ordinate maintenance programmes with production schedules.
Supervise training of new staff and develop good labour relations. Establish mentoring programmes to effectively develop and grow the manufacturing team.
Review current production process and implement system improvements. Control cost budgets and labour management. Conducting regular 1 on 1 with senior production personnel
Conducting regular skills assessment of all production personnel via a competency skills assessment and identifying necessary gaps
Develop training plans for Production personnel. Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in business and strategic planning and business review processes.
Advise the GM Chocolate on strategies for minimising costs in accordance with the chocolate production operations.
Liaise with the GM Chocolate on the establishment of operational budgets. Ensure the financial and operational targets set for Production are achieved.
Ensure that supervisors who are failing to meet targets are quickly and effectively supported to implement remedial action.
Ensure that Factory policies, procedures, systems and support are implemented in the function.
Liaise with other managers to ensure that management information systems provide the data needed to monitor and control production operations.
Maintain processes to provide systems feedback to Factory management and liaise with the Engineering Manager to refine systems.
Liaise with the HR Manager and GM Chocolate to ensure that employment management practices and health and safety policies and procedures are implemented.
Ensure effective training programs are in place to develop engineering and maintenance staff.
Act on customer feedback to improve production systems, processes and procedures. Identify and develop opportunities to provide quality products and exceptional service to customers and internal managers that have a benefit for the company.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Engineering(Chemical); Engineering(Mechanical); Engineering(Others) or similar fields.
Food Technology or Engineering degree (+5 years experience - minimum)
Strong operational and manufacturing leadership experience in FMCG industry
Strong chocolate manufacturing experience (essential)
Chocolate R & D formulation experience
Familiar with chocolate making equipment and technology
A strong awareness of and commitment to safety management
Experience in Total productive maintenance, 5s LEAN, 6 sigma tools and concepts preferred.
The ability to lead the workforce and improve production teams People Management skills Time management skills Excellent communication (verbal & written), coaching, and leadership skills in a team based environment.
Demonstrated abilities in Analytics, problem solving and team building An Engineer with a strong financial & business acumen, project management skills and Knowledge of industrial maintenance and manufacturing equipment.
With valid driver's license. Must be available to travel within PNG and overseas to visit our customers and suppliers.
