Job Description:
A family based in Punta Engaño, Mactan is seeking a full time, live in, Family Assistant & Caregiver. Because we live on a high floor in a condominium, we are preferably looking for a candidate who is physically fit. This is necessary as in the event of an emergency the candidate will need to assist my 90 - year-old parent who weighs 170 lbs. down the emergency staircase.
My 90 year old parent is in good health for his age. He is mobile and is mostly independent. However during periods when he is sick, he needs assistance with all his daily activities. During times where his needs are less when he is in good health, your responsibilities would shift more towards helping around the household.
Your schedule would either be six days on, one day off; twelve days on, two days off; or if you prefer, you can accumulate your days off you don't use to use them in conjunction with your vacation and holidays so you can take longer vacations, so long as we plan it ahead of time so that there is someone to cover for you while you are gone. During critical periods if my father in particular is not in good health, we would ask that you accumulate your days off and use them at a later period or you could reserve the option to get paid out for them.
Responsibilities:
Caregiving:
Health & Vitals Tracking - Sleep, Exercise, Weight, Oxygen, Pulse, Blood Pressure, etc. Collecting this data so we can monitor health.
Cognitive Stimulation - Planning & managing activities (Hiking, Trips, Events, TV, calling friends and relatives, etc.)
Medication & Vitamin Management
Daily Activities Assistance - Bathing, Dressing, Feeding (Not Currently Needed but Potentially in the Future)
Planning & Coordinating Activities - Making appointments, coordinating doctor visits, visiting friends, day trips etc.
Grocery Shopping & Meal Preparation - Most of the meal preparation is done by a housekeeper, but it would be good to know how to cook in case no one is around to cook.
Personal Training - Exercise & Strength Management - Walks, Swimming, Weights etc. Accompany my parent and keep him motivated and safe when they swim at the beach, the pool, or when they exercise outdoors.
Cleaning his room, bathroom, apartment to make sure things are always clean, tidy, and in order.
Family Assistant:
Transportation - Driving any family member wherever they need to go when the driver is not available to ensure they have freedom of mobility such as grocery store, doctor visits, general trips. A driver's license and an ability to drive the car is important.
Mobility Assistance & Safety - Ensuring my father is safe from slips/trips/falls.
Errands - In support of any family member & family business
Light Housekeeping & Organization - We have a housekeeper who will do the daily general cleaning, but we expect assistance helping keep the house tidy and organized.
Coordinating Maintenance for Home & Vehicles - Ensuring the vehicles and home are maintained & cleaned.
Overall Family Safety - Fire, vehicular, weather & emergency plans & preparedness
Managing Recurring Household Expenses
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Reasonably Fluent in English - Beginner/Intermediate English is Acceptable
Swimming - Must be able to swim well because of beach and pool swimming with elder parents
Organized, flexible, and proactive by nature. Must anticipate needs of parent.
Strength & Fitness - Must be able to assist my parent down 17 floors using the staircase in the case of an emergency or fire.
Desired Skills:
Certified Caregiver or Nurse - If no certification, we are open to starting you at a lower salary and allowing you to attend a course for a caregiver certification.
Attention to detail
First Aid - If not trained on first aid, ensuring you are trained soon after you start working
Well mannered & well presented
Discreet, and knows how to protect and maintain family privacy
Resourceful and knows how to solve problems independently.
Excellent all-around communication skills
Driver's License - Car & Motorcycle - Must have a driver's license or be willing to get one soon after you start for both a car and motorcycle.
