SUMMARY OF ROLE
SunPower is seeking a Buyer to assure that the company gets the best items of the best quality and best price through effective negotiation providing cost benefits to the company. The Buyer will be responsible for planning and sourcing to assigned commodities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, schedules and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases.
Obtains materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels (i.e., Just In Time purchases, use of EOQ - Economic Order Quantities).
Resolves discrepancies.
Ensures material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized.
Develops specifications for new contract orders.
Gathers quotations, examines bids and makes awards.
Monitors cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
Evaluates vendor reliability and develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive
Check support status of assigned commodities; monitor deliveries of open PO's; Expedite orders
Monitor status of delivery and make the necessary arrangement for those critical items.
Sourcing of items requested by the customers
Close payment transaction issues. Communicate with accounting and giving payment information to the suppliers.
Update commodity spend and cost reduction report
Benchmarking of costs and supply; gather supply chain information on commodities managed
Ensure compliance to SOX, Specs and other regulatory requirements relative to commodities managed
Submit weekly commodity spend report with cost reduction update
Participate in SPC meetings and other AD HOV committees as needed
KI and cost reduction reporting
Annual commodity spends Summary report
Complies always the Environment, Health and Safety and Manufacturing Quality standards, rules and regulations
Performs other duties may be assigned
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's degree graduate
Minimum of 2yrs related Supply Chain experience preferably in semiconductor/electronics/manufacturing industries.
Excellent negotiation skills
Proficient in any ERP/Purchasing System
Proficient in MS office application
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred requirements
Preferably a graduate of Engineering or Business course
Knowledge in Oracle system.
