Power Systems is a global function that designs and develops Dysons internal technologies that enable most of our products. The team has experts in wide range of areas (mechanical, electrical, software, project management) and is responsible of the development from early stages through to production.
Mechanical Design team within Power Systems is responsible for mechanical design, build process, sample building, analysis, and experimental validation and verification of mechanical robustness and reliability of the technology project.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electronics Technician to join our Build and Test team. The role will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading build and test systems. This position requires a solid understanding of electrical and electronic systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The role responsibilities will cover the following areas:
Perform motor testing and data collection. Record results and report back to the team.
Assist engineers as they create, modify, and test motors and processes. This includes rig/jig setup, wiring and troubleshooting.
Support engineers in electrical and electronics safety compliance related tests like open/short test.
Ensure tests are carried out as per Dyson Test Method (DTM) or as per relevant industry standards (IEC, ISO, ASTM, etc.).
Ensure failures are captured during the verification and initiate steps for reporting and corrective actions.
Support laboratory management, safety, 5S, and equipment maintenance and calibration.
Operate and maintain equipment used for testing. This includes performing preventive maintenance, calibration & calling for repairs.
Perform soldering of PCBs and components, crimping of cables, and developing control boxes.
Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
Enhances laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Maintains laboratory supplies through inventory management, ordering & receiving of goods.
Inspect products and processes for flaws and identify areas of improvement.
Prepare and conduct experiments. Calculate or record results during experiments.
About you
A minimum of Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Technology or equivalent is preferred, reinforced with practical engineering experience, and preferably has experience working in a semiconductor industry or R&D environment.
The candidate must have good practical skills in electronics engineering.
An ability to execute a test independently, from setup to result reporting is necessary.
A good level of literacy and numeracy is needed together with analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office is required with particular emphasis on the use of Excel for recording results that can be graphically demonstrated.
Good at communicating at all levels and able to work in a self-motivated way as well as in a team.
Experience using test and DAQ equipment such as AC/DC power supplies, DMMs, power meters, NI hardware, and others.
Familiarity in the operation and maintenance of electronic test equipment.
Good soldering and cable crimping skills.
Basic electronics schematics reading and troubleshooting skills.
Exposure to working in a cross cultural and international team would be advantageous.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize key activities according to project deliveries.
