BARISTA
 
Job Description
 
·        Greets customers when they enter the building
·        Welcomes customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.
·        Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
·        Takes orders, including offering menu recommendations and noting dietary restrictions and customizations
·        Builds relationships with customers and promotes and recommend menu options to customers
·        Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, snacks, and pastries
·        Operate and maintain coffee equipment, including espresso machines, grinders and brewers
·        Monitors stock levels of coffee beans and supplies, and place orders as needed
·        Makes drinks according to company recipes and standards
·        Keeps the work environment and cafe seating area clean, sanitized and organized
·        Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
·        Assist with opening and closing duties, including setup, cleaning and inventory tasks
·        Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
·        Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
·        Follow food safety regulations and health and safety regulations at all times
·        Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
·        Updates signage and displays to attract customers
 
Requirements and skills
 
Male or Female, preferably Female
A passion for serving people
Possess a sense of urgency
Highly motivated and enthusiastic
Exceptional listening and communication skills
Prior experience in a similar role (preferred but not required)
Knowledge of coffee brewing methods and coffee beverages
Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
Good time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of sanitation regulations
Flexibility to work in various shifts
Basic math skills
Ability to gauge customers' preferences
Availability to work around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
