Position Summary: Architecture, technical leadership role in our Enterprise Architecture(EA) team. The EA Application Platform Architect works on enterprise wide initiatives with SME focus on architecting and designing application runtime platforms that includes cloud IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, containers, database and middleware services with proficiency in DevOps processes on ships and shore. Responsible for working closely with developers, software engineering and operations teams. Provides the platform architecture roadmaps, designs, technical leadership for the various projects.
Responsibilities:
Provide platform architecture, roadmaps and designs for application runtimes that encompasses middleware, containers, database and cloud IaaS/PaaS/SaaS services (AWS, Azure)
Create reference architecture artifacts for the above SME areas
Evaluate Application Portfolios and develop modernization portfolios and strategy
Work closely with application, server and operations teams, effectively communicating and managing customer expectations
Provide enterprise architecture technical leadership for global initiatives and implementation collaboration with project and operations teams.
Identify opportunities to innovate, extend and enhance service delivery in the SME areas
Serves as escalation point for system administration hands on work in the SME areas
Hands on R & D work for evaluating new technologies
Serves as escalation point for support and troubleshooting, provides guidance and direction in resolution of escalated application or system problems.
Create and maintain system documentation for solution design, domain technologies
Improve existing processes through solutions to recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions or documentation.
Developing architecture processes using TOGAF ADM.
Strong technical leadership and communications skills including teamwork, facilitation, and coordination to ensure successful creation of roadmaps
Experience and Skills:
10+ years of experience with middleware, containers, database and cloud IaaS/PaaS/SaaS services in a large enterprise.
Architecture and design experience with application platform implementations
Experience with docker/container stack architecture, technologies, and platforms that includes Kubernetes, OpenShift, Mesosphere, etc.
Experience in administering messaging solutions that include Kafka, etc.
Experience in DevOps, DevSecOps and Application Performance Management implementations
Experience with traditional middleware technologies like Tibco and WebSphere family of products is a plus
Platform design and implementation experience with projects that encompass webservices, microservices, API gateways like IBM Datapower, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, etc.
Strong knowledge of Linux, Windows operating systems and virtualization technologies
Experience with middleware clustering and load balancing
Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS
Proficiency in project estimations, capacity planning, availability planning and performance
Documentation and development of processes and procedures.
Experienced in managing 100+ applications.
Automation and Scripting experience that includes Linux shell, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins
Experience as team lead or architect
Experience with Architecture frameworks like Zachman, FEA, TOGAF, MODAF/DODAF
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Masters in Computer Science/Engineering or related disciplines.
