We are searching for a motivated Accounting Assistant who is an excellent multi-tasker with exceptional communication and time management skills. Accounting Assistants can expect to assist the Accounting department with data entry, processing, and recording transactions, updating the ledger, assisting with audits or fact-checking, and preparing budgets and reports. You should be thorough, accurate, and honest with good bookkeeping skills.
To be a successful Accounting Assistant, you should have an understanding of basic Accounting principles and proficiency with computers and software, such as MS Excel or QuickBooks. You should be trustworthy, efficient, and organized.
Responsibilities:
Providing support to the Accounting Department.
Performing basic tasks, such as filing, data entry, calling , processing emails, etc.
Handling communications with clients and vendors via phone, email, and in-person.
Weekly Payroll admin, bank deposits and processing for contractors across 3 businesses
Reconciling Invoices, updating expense reports, processing reimbursements and identifying discrepancies
Updating financial transactions into internal databases, spreadsheets in a timely and accurate manner
Participate in quarterly and annual audits
Other ad hoc admin Accounting tasks as needed
Qualifications:
BS/Associates degree and experience in related fields of Accounting/ Finance.
Preferably with payroll experience within an Australian recruitment agency
Proficiency with computers and bookkeeping software, strong typing skills.
Experienced in Payroll software package (ideally Astute)
At least 1 year experience using Xero software
Exceptional time management and verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with basic Finance and Accounting principles.
Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software such as Quickbooks
Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
Commitment to working efficiently and accurately.
