We are looking for a knowledgeable Accounting Manager who can lead and motivate accounting staff members and increase department accuracy and efficiency. The Accounting Manager will delegate, supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks, oversee the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information, hire, train, and motivate accounting staff members, develop and implement department controls and procedures, and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy.
To succeed as an Accounting Manager, you should be analytical, detail-oriented, and honest. The ideal Accounting Manager should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as a strong understanding of accounting and management principles and financial legislation
Duties and Responsibilities:
Train, direct the work, resolve problems and assist with the hiring, performance and salary reviews of the accounting associates.
Prepare, review and reconcile daily postings, accruals, various general ledger accounts and bank statements to ensure accurate financial information is available.
Compile, prepare, back-up and analyze various financial reports and statements to provide accurate, timely information to guest, management, corporate and ownership.
Compile, prepare, back-up and analyze period-end data on food and beverage costs and inventories (gift shop where applicable) to provide information and recommendations to management on current procedures and controls. Assist with the preparation of cost potentials as required.
May supervise or handle the accounts receivable function and perform the hotel's credit/collection and food & beverage control function to ensure accurate, timely and quality service and support to hotel guests and management.
Review and monitor internal control procedures in the hotel. Areas included are Food & Beverage, Cashiering, Room Operations, etc. Participate in departmental inventories each month.
Reviews and analyzes business results throughout the hotel to ensure alignment with the hotel's financial objectives.
Assist with the compilation and preparation of the financial statement, periodic forecasts and annual budget to provide support to ensure timely, accurate information.
Maximize cash flow by proactively managing accounts receivable functions and attending monthly credit meeting.
Promptly follows-up on all customer needs and inquiries in an efficient and expedient manner.
Investigate, resolve, respond to guest needs, inquires, comments and/or problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.
Ensure adequate controls are installed and maintained for the protection of the hotel's financial assets against loss or misappropriation.
Maintain all users' access request and authorizations (Windows, E-mail, Opera, Micros, Adams Keegan). Respond to all users request and provide them with adequate support.
Conduct performance evaluations, coordinate training programs, and identify training needs.
Overseeing the daily activities of the accounting department and ensuring that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.
Ensuring that all accounting processes align with current financial legislation.
Maintaining accurate and complete financial records and participating in audits or reconciliations, as needed.
Keeping informed about the latest developments in the finance industry.
Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience in Management, Accounting, or a related field may be preferred.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.
Exceptional math skills.
Proficiency with computers, especially bookkeeping software and MS Office.
High level of efficiency and accuracy.
Willingness to comply with all local, state, federal, and company regulations.
Attention to detail and the ability to analyze large amounts of data.
Fixed asset activity.
