Job brief
Supervises, tracks and evaluates day-to-day activities. Manages and establishes financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages and oversees the daily operations of the accounting department including:
month and end-year process
accounts payable/receivable
cash receipts
general ledger
payroll and utilities
treasury, budgeting
cash forecasting
revenue and expenditure variance analysis
capital assets reconciliations
trust account statement reconciliations,
check runs
fixed asset activity
debt activity
Establishes financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, and managing accounting staff.
Accomplishes accounting human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures.
Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; and implementing change.
Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; and preparing special reports.
Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts and defining accounting policies and procedures.
Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, and recommending new procedures.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Job Requirements (education and work experience)
Proven working experience as Accounting Manager, or Finance Manager
Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to direct and supervise
BS degree in Accounting or Finance, licensed CPA
Minimum 3 years experience as an Accounting Manager
Compentency Requirement
Strong leadership skills
Is overseeing the performance of and delegating different tasks to subordinates. Provides training to subordinates and ensure that all of them are aware of the new laws and regulations.
Communication
Has the ability to explain complex data in simple terms is really important - both in writing and verbally. Knows how to provide clear and understandable instructions to subordinates.
Risk Assessment, Analysis and Management - Cost Accounting and Financial Management Assess, analyze and manage risk using appropriate frameworks, professional judgment and skepticism for effective business management.
Measurement Analysis and Interpretation
Identify and apply appropriate, reliable, and verifiable measurements to analyze data for a given purpose and intended use.
Reporting and Accuracy
Identify the appropriate content and communicate clearly and objectively to the intended audience, the work performed and the results as governed by professional standards, required by law or dictated by the business environment.
Systems and Process Management
Identify the appropriate businesses processes and system(s), related frameworks and controls to assist in the design and use of systems for efficient and effective operations.
Technology and Tools
Identify and utilize relevant technology and tools to analyze data, efficiently and effectively perform assigned tasks as well as support other competencies.
