Roles and Responsibilities
The main objectives of the Financial Controller are to improve the profitability of the company through accurate Financial reporting in conjunction with company Financial Controller, provide strategic financial advice and accurate financial reporting for the company, and provide high level and accurate data entry.
The Financial Controller is expected to coordinate the finance function of the businesses and projects including but not limited to:
- Providing strategic advice and working on commercial strategy, planning and budgeting with the Management team
- Providing financial plans for projects
- Job costing for estimators and project managers
- Management of specific financially focused projects as and when required
- Developing and coordinating the details of specific payment terms in customer contracts
The Financial Controller is also expected to provide weekly reports to senior management Accounts Payable and Receivable duties including but not limited to:
- Preparing Accounts Payable & Receivable Data Entry
- Preparing Payroll entries
- Managing accounting functions including maintenance of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project accounting
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures, and policies in relation to financial matters
- Managing monthly closing of financial records and posting of month-end information;
- Providing accounting assistance to project managers and relevant staff
- Liaising between the company, government and external accountants to meet information needs and to ensure that proper information is maintained for historical purposes.
- Preparing and recommending operating and personnel budgets for approval.
- Monitoring spending for adherence to budget and providing recommendations on significant variances.
- Scheduling payments to suppliers
- Loading payments into the bank system
- Review weekly Accounts payable aging reports and email to all concerned.
- Responding to enquiries from suppliers, subcontractors, service providers and other interested parties in relation to accounts payable
Required Experience
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role
- Experience with MYOB EXO ERP or a similar system
- Experience in establishing and maintaining consistent performance standards with regards to operational procedures and support of safe, efficient and respectful work practices
- Experience in ERP systems or similar
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree qualifications in Accountancy or Finance
