The Protection Assistant will support and lead, formulate, implement, and oversee the protection activities in coordination with Head of Project and assigned technical coordinator in Action Against Hunger Philippine Mission. Primary focus of this position is to support the implementation of protection activities in Iligan Base and address identified protection concerns through cross-sectoral coordination with other technical department in line with the proposals.
Key activities in your role will include
Objective 1: Project management and implementation
Monitor, analyse and prepare reports on protection and gender mainstreaming in the intervention.
Assist in designing and integrating protection and gender responsive interventions across project and technical areas;
Ensure timely identification and provision of protection support in line with the strategies and modalities outlined in the proposal and according to the local/international guidelines in coordination and consultation with HoP
Ensure protection policy and principles are systematically applied throughout the interventions.
Lead and conducted capacity building and awareness campaign on protection/gender in the project areas
Support the affected communities in securing legal documents and information needed to access timely humanitarian assistance.
Support/participate in distributions of goods/supplies provided by the project
Objective 2: Coordination / collaboration and synergies
To take the lead in the coordination with other stakeholders/partners on protection/protection issues
Ensure and maintain the working relationship with the local partners (LGUs, stakeholders) and consortium team/members
Participate in meetings with the relevant stakeholders and represent Action Against Hunger at local LGU/cluster and other relevant meeting in coordination with the Technical Coordinator
Ensure planned activities are closely coordinated and consulted with local health service providers, community leaders and clusters
Coordinate and ensure AAH's sectoral interventions/activities are complementing each other and providing assistance to the most vulnerable IDPs and returnees
Ensure tools and approaches are standardized across the consortium related to protection/gender related activities
In coordination and consultation with the HOP , ensure proper coordination and information sharing with LGUs, stakeholders and consortium members and implementation and approaches and adopted to local context.
Objective 3: Monitoring, Reporting and Capitalisation
Report to the Head of Project issues and challenges faced in the field and implementing the activities and context related issues affecting the planned activities
Update HOP on the progress and achievement on daily and weekly
Ensuring the quality of the data collected from the field
Make suggestions/recommendations to HOP on readjusting the program based on the results and the context, as needed
Monitor and follow-up the beneficiaries assisted through protection and gender related intervention and submit progress reports
Participate in assessment, collecting and entering data and their analysis, including timely archiving of SoVs
Objective 4: Safety and Security
Adhere to the Mission Reporting system and submit the reports requested on-time
Respect the Security rules of Action Against Hunger and coordinate with the Security Officer / Base Logistics Officer for any security issues relating to work
Report any security or other incidents in the field that may interrupt project activities directly to line manager, Base Security Officer / Base Logistics Officer.
Do you meet the profile required criteria?
Bachelor's degree in Protection, Gender or related field or substantial field work experience on gender and protection mainstreaming in humanitarian intervention
Knowledge and experience in implementing/ managing/mainstreaming protection and gender integration in humanitarian and development projects/programs in line with existing law/protocol and guidelines
Minimum 2 years work experience on similar position with similar setting and responsibility
Knowledge and familiarity of Mindanao context and challenges in gender/and protection issues
Considering experience in leading and conducting protection/gender assessment, analysis and writing reports
Knowledge of IASC Gender Marker and main donor requirements in term of gender and protection integration including USAID, OFDA, ECHO, etc.
English and Filipino required. Knowledge in speaking the local dialect is an advantage.
